Beauty & Skincare Staples for Every Day

The colder months always do something funny to my skin. As temperatures drop, I’ve noticed it reacting more sensitively to the weather. I’ve always had naturally dry skin and I’m prone to eczema flare-ups, especially when the temperature changes overnight.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become more intentional about the products I use daily — especially the ones I carry with me. I love finding small but hardworking essentials that give the benefits of a full makeup bag without the bulk.

Many of these favourites come from wonderful Irish brands I genuinely adore and want to celebrate. So here are the five products I reach for again and again — from my makeup bag to yours.

First on my list is the SOSU Complete Canvas Complexion Palette. SOSU Cosmetics is an Irish brand founded by makeup artist and influencer Suzanne Jackson. I love how it’s all about practical, high-quality products that let you create everything from natural looks to full-on glam — versatile, buildable, and perfect for everyday use.

This complexion palette has become one of my favourite little game-changers. It’s a full kit in one — foundation, concealer, contour, blush, and highlight — all in a compact size that fits effortlessly in your handbag without taking up much room.

The formulas are ultra-blendable, with a beautiful mix of cool, neutral, and warm base shades for a natural, seamless finish. The blushes and highlighters add the perfect amount of colour and glow without ever looking heavy.

A versatile, space-saving essential I now keep in my makeup bag — and quite literally carry with me everywhere!

Second on my list is the Hydra Tint from Sculpted by Amy, another brilliant Irish beauty brand. I love how this product blends effortless, natural-looking coverage with high-performance skincare — it’s lightweight, hydrating, and perfect for days when I want my skin to look fresh without feeling heavy.

It gives just the right amount of tint while keeping my skin nourished and glowing. Enriched with hyaluronic acid, it keeps skin hydrated all day, and SPF 20 adds an extra layer of protection. It’s the ultimate skincare-makeup hybrid, with a sheer, buildable finish that evens out imperfections and delivers a barely-there, radiant look. It’s quickly become a firm favourite in my makeup bag!

Next on my list is Pearl Beauty’s Multi-Purpose Lip & Face Sticks. Pearl Beauty was created by makeup artist Elanna McGowan, with a mission to craft simple, fuss-free products that everyone can enjoy.

My favourite shades are ‘Summer Spice’ and ‘Put Together’. I love these sticks because they’re so versatile — a few swipes give a natural, radiant flush on lips, cheeks, and even eyes. The formula blends beautifully, feels lightweight, and adds just the right amount of colour without ever feeling heavy.

They also last for ages! Perfect for quick mornings, travel, or days when you want a polished look without constant touch-ups. This multitasking little gem is always in my handbag.

Next we move onto skincare… and a product I’ve been using for years and genuinely love is Beauty Pie’s Japanfusion Pure Transforming Cleanser. I use it daily and always repurchase — it’s that good! This gentle, luxurious cleanser feels like a little treat for my sensitive, dry skin. The non-foaming, gel-like texture transforms into an oil on the skin, effortlessly breaking down makeup, dirt, and grime.

It leaves my face feeling clean, refreshed, and moisturised — never tight or stripped, which is so important for sensitive skin like mine. Over time, I’ve noticed my complexion looking calmer, clearer, and more balanced, even on days when I’ve been a little lazy with my routine. Beauty Pie really nails the balance between effectiveness and affordability, and this cleanser is the perfect example — simple, innovative, and utterly reliable.

And finally, the last product I’m sharing is a more recent find that has truly saved my skin this winter: La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+ Repairing Balm. With the cold weather creeping in and being particularly harsh this year, this balm has been a total lifesaver.

It’s designed to repair and protect irritated, uncomfortable, or damaged skin. I mainly use it on my face, and it’s so soothing — instantly hydrating and calming my dry, sensitive skin. The texture feels rich but absorbs beautifully, leaving an invisible protective layer that keeps my skin comfortable all day.

It works with the skin’s natural recovery process, helping to repair the barrier while remaining gentle and protective. It’s become a real winter essential for me — my go-to whenever my skin needs some extra care and hydration.

So there you have it! - those are the beauty and skincare essentials I rely on day in, day out. Each product has earned its place in my routine for its effectiveness, simplicity, and ability to keep my skin looking and feeling its best.
