Somewhere Special: Bibi’s — A Cozy, Delicious Brunch Spot in Dublin
Tucked down a quiet street in Dublin’s Portobello neighbourhood, Bibi’s hums with the clatter of pots and pans and the lively buzz of a beautiful busy café.
I lived in Dublin for a year after finishing my Fine Art degree in Newcastle, and during that time, I called Portobello my home. Conveniently, I lived just around the corner from what would become my favourite brunch spot in the city.
On a recent day trip back to Dublin, I couldn’t resist revisiting this delicious little spot and wanted to share it with you. If you’re visiting Dublin for the first time, you’ll be glad to know its brunch scene is epic, with a plethora of incredible cafés and restaurants to explore. Brother Hubbard, Meet Me in the Morning, Two Boys Brew, The Fumbally, and Alma are just a few very much worth trying. But my absolute favourite was and is Bibi’s.
Owned and run by siblings Maisha and Geoff Lenehan, Bibi’s plates up some seriously delicious brunch dishes. As soon as you step inside, you’re greeted by the smell of fresh, mouth-watering food and a stylish, eclectic interior that feels both cosy and vibrant. I remember on my first visit being quite obsessed with their woven lampshade that hangs in the main room — and to be honest, I still probably am!
I spent many slow mornings here, musing and planning for things ahead, so if you’re someone who loves a relaxed café to write, dream, or simply soak up the atmosphere, Bibi’s is for you. But It’s also sure to please family and friends with its simple yet delicious menu.
My personal recommendations? Their roasted squash eggs are delicious, the chocolate brownie is a must, and their ham and cheese toastie is a moreish classic done perfectly.
So there you have it! If you’re planning a trip to Dublin and feel lost on where to go for brunch — please give Bibi’s a try, and let me know your favourite dish!
